9/13/12 Bill Few Associates 25th Anniversary Party

Many thanks to Jody Dimeling for inviting us to do our Keystring Trio for the early part of the evening and cranking out the DJ tunes later.  Amazingly, I used to play their Holiday party at the Downtown office many years ago when Bill was alive.

Thanks, too, to the staff at The Frick in Point Breeze for their help and hospitality.  The huge tent was done by our friend Dan Skena at Party Savvy, food by Rania's Catering, and wines by Dreadnought Wines in The Strip.  Good times !

New Mascot ?

I love this guy !  Like if you think we should make him our mascot.

9/11/12 International Alloys Conference

It was nice to be invited back for the 4th time to play this big convention of scientists from all over the world. Considering this only happens every 4 years that is even more impressive that they remember me.

Here is a photo of the newly remodeled Convention Hall at Seven Springs.

Thanks to Talent Network for hooking me up.

9/22/12 Thank You

I just wanted to thank you for the beautiful music you provided for the wedding ceremony at Phipps for my son and daughter-in-law on Saturday.  So many of the guests commented about how much the music added to the wedding.

Again, thank you for helping make it a very spacial day.

9/2/12 Ben & Mindy

Wedding Ceremony and Reception at the Christian Klay Winery in Chalk Hill PA

Solo Violin for the Ceremony, DJ music during Cocktails, Strolling Violin for Dinner and DJ dance music all night.

The threatening weather brought the Ceremony inside but that did not slow down the celebration.  The rustic barn was a perfect backdrop for the wholesome meal served up by Carson's Premier Catering.  Dancing went on into the night because of the Labor Day Holiday the next day.

By coincidence, my cousin, saxophonist Johnny Vann, was playing with the Bobby Reed Trio on the winery's outdoor deck right up to the time I started prelude music. When I heard them go into "Orange Blossom Special" I had to go down to sit in.

Music Notes -

Prelude music: "Ode To Joy", "Trumpet Tune", "Spring", "Jesu, Joy Of Mans Desiring", "Fur Elise", Sinfonia
Bride's Procession: "Canon In D" by Pachelbel
Recessional: "Wedding March" by Mendelssohn

Introduction Music: "Happy Together" by The Turtles
Musical Toast: What A Wonderful World"
Cake Song: "How Sweet It Is" by James Taylor
First Dance: "Unstoppable" by Keaton Simmons
Bride and her Dad and the Groom and his Mom: "There You'll Be" by Faith Hill

9/1/12 Sam & Krista

Wedding Ceremony and Reception at The Mansion At Maple Heights.
Violin and Cello Duo for the Ceremony,  Electric Violin with backing tracks during Cocktails, and DJ background and dance music.

The drizzle did not dampen the spirits of the couple or the guests as we waited for a break in the clouds to make the outdoor ceremony happen.

The tent was set beautifully and the food great as always from Big Burrito Catering.

Music Highlights:
Bridesmaids Procession: "Canon In D"
Brides Procession: "Bridal Chorus" (Here Comes The Bride)

First Dance: "To Make You Feel My Love" Adele
Bouquet Toss: " Single Ladies"
They had me pick a lot of the other special music.

8/17/12 Review from The Knot

Elegant!   posted 9/15/2012
Steven Vance himself played at my wedding and he was amazing. During the planning, he was very responsive and we were able to get everything sorted out easily. On the day of my ceremony the priest did not show up on time so Steven had to play longer than planned, but he was there to keep the guests entertained and was so nice. His music was beautiful and it added an elegance to the wedding. I would recommend him and his services. Thanks Steven!

7/26/12 Got Strings Camp

Congratulations to Dierdre and Scott Edgell on their impressive music program in Souderton PA (north of Philadelphia).  They invited me out to work with their kids on the electric violin, building an ensemble sound, improvisation and more. Wow !  They rocked out to "Viva La Vida" and the Mr. Hudson/Jay-Z version of "Forever Young".  Wish I had taken more video and pics.  I was blown away by a teen rhythm section that jumped from Miles Davis to Herbie Hancock to John Coltrane to Michael Jackson effortlessly. Hope to get an invitation to come back soon.
